Each trooper has some control over what he will do to serve the
Empire. Below is a basic overview of some of these tasks.
For more information, seek the Trooper
Specialization Page.
Stormtrooper
These white armor-clad foot soldiers are the trademark of the Empire. Stormtroopers are the Empire's most widely used enlisted men. Their armor allows them to survive harsh environments and it does offer some protection from blaster bolts as well as melee weapons.
All troopers enter the army with varied levels of talent and
skill. The only thing they have in common is, should they survive
training, they will be Stormtroopers. Only 15% of the recruits
manage to make it through training. The rest are immolated or
buried. Training is tough, intensive, and challenging. Those
who make it through can specialize in other relevant military skills or
concentrate on accelerated battlefield expertise.
Equipment includes: Stormtrooper armor, E-11 Blaster Rifle,
Utility Belt (contains spare power packs, line with grappling hook, comm-link,
survival gear, 2 medpacs, and other standard gear)
|
Combat Engineer
Part sharpshooter, part heavy weapons specialist, the Combat
Engineer specializes in demolitions and infiltration missions
planning and execution. Can also function as a heavy
weapons backup and spotter. Providing a role for a trooper
that can think and act in ways to benefit the squad, the combat
engineer is a trained eye on a scouting mission that can discern
and exploit enemy weaknesses.
Equipment includes: Heavy blaster pistol, 3 fragmentation
grenades, 3 explosive charges; large backpack containing
demolitions gear, light hand tools, wiring and sensor kits. |
Communications Technician
Communications Technicians provide the squad with a member who
is more than another blaster handler. These troopers are
available to provide technological access to a wide array of
support options and are able to modify various mechanical and
computer objects to advance the squad's objectives.
Operation, repair, and modification techniques of a myriad of
devices are taught to these troopers, as well as command level
encoding structures in order to be able to call in ground, air,
and space support directly without going through normal
channels. Successful candidates can expect to be granted
consideration for advancement into the training path for
Advanced Technicians, aka Slicers.
Equipment includes: Additional items expected to be handled by a
comm tech: Military-grade datapad, planetary communications rig,
droid repair kit, computer repair kit, diagnostic kit,
lightweight tool kit. |
Heavy Weapons Specialist
To an enemy of the Empire, one of the most feared sights in the
galaxy is that of a team of Stormtroopers rapidly advancing
towards their position. Imagine that group outfitted with
advanced high impact weaponry and you have a fighting force
worth respecting. As a heavy weapons specialist, a trooper
has the opportunity to work with the finest of Imperial weapons
and equipment. While any trooper can test a proficiency in
the use of a blaster rifle, not many can handle the intricate
details of supporting and maintaining heavy repeating blasters
or even artillery pieces. Advanced training can offer the
option to become a Sharpshooter, the highest combination of
hardware and individual skill available in the Corps.
Equipment includes: Electronics and wiring kit, small tool kit,
weapons diagnostic interface datapad, weapons repair kit. |
Medic
While being encased in armor is a huge advantage to the members
of the Corps, injuries - both minor and severe - do occur on the
battlefield. Often, the nearest friendly medic is orbiting
above the objective or, worse, many light years away. A
few stim tabs and a bacta patch do not suffice in most cases,
thus the need for a trained team member to perform on-the-spot
medical care. Combat Medics are given the finest in
Imperial medical science training while allowing for the bare
minimum of gear required. Medics will rarely be expected
to succeed in saving a mortally injured trooper; however, they
are capable of stabilizing a ptient long enough for a medevac
team to arrive.
Equipment includes: Medical backpack kit; datapad and reference
rods; extra medpacs, surgical kit. |
Vehicle Pilot
While even the most untalented of fringers can
operate a landspeeder, it takes skill plus training to operate the
finest of Imperial vehicles. As a vehicle crewman, a trooper will
learn to operate, maintain, and repair all primary vehicle systems - be
it tracked, wheeled, walker, or repulsorlift. Maneuver and
formation techniques are stressed as are terrain mapping, gunnery, and instrument
reading. General qualification will allow for access to the most
basic of vehicles. Complete proficiency (operation, repair,
command, gunnery, etc.) must be proven for each advanced vehicle system,
both Imperial and New Republic (when available for testing).
Equipment includes: Imperial Munitions HardRide helmet interface system,
Imperial Munitions Vehicle Inciter ignition cylinder, basic tool kit,
access and control vehicle operator's cylinder (keyed to specific
trooper) |
Scout Trooper
A combination specialty, the scout is the best
of the best on the battlefield. Capable of independent operations
in the enemy's backyard, the scout is a fully trained pathfinder, spy,
infiltrator, and saboteur. In teams, scouts are elite strike units
that can weaken superiorly armed forces for small periods of time,
allowing Imperial forces time to prepare a proper assault or defense.
Equipment includes: Lightweight scout armor, sidearm; demolitions gear,
survival kit, electronics tools.

Slicer
Blasters and overwhelming force of numbers does not always do
the job in battle. Indeed, as the Civil War progresses, it
is obvious that our forces need to fight more intelligently -
using every tool available. The slicer, once known as a
behind-the-scenes entity, has made it to the front lines.
Starships, hovertanks, military emplacements, even secured homes
all use technology to control, assist and protect beings and
assets. The trooper who can gain easy access to an
objective is one who helps his team avoid unnecessary
firefights. From a basis of communications technicians, a
slicer is trained in the finer elements of electronics and
computers. Much like a Jedi, the final test is the
creation of a personally designed slicing computer and a moniker
under which to operate.
Equipment includes: Slicing Computer, datapad, 4 computer
spikes, algorithm/cracker, electronics tools, droid tools,
computer kit, basic tools kit, customized infiltration kit with
code/ID forgery unit. |
Sharpshooter
On occasion, missions come up that do not require overwhelming
force of numbers. These may be missions of stealth or of
quick and dirty infiltrations. In either case, when an
opposing target needs to be put down quickly and efficiently,
the sharpshooter is the person called upon to make the sure
kill. When faced with a New Republic senator at the other
end of a long meeting hall, or 20-to-1 odds on some backwater
planet full of angry natives, the fighting force with the best
marksmanship is the one that will likely make it out
alive. It is on these occasions where the sharpshooter can
succeed.
Equipment includes: Personally modified sniper rifle and
sidearm(s); various sights, scopes, and surveillance equipment;
camouflage gear; infiltration kit; custom tools and electronics
kit. |
Special Forces
Not all objectives are obtained by overwhelming force. Not
every victory is obvious, nor on a battlefield. Where
conventional forces fail, special forces personnel excel.
Combining basic military skills with emphasis on small
group/individual action, Special Forces teams operate beyond the
front lines to achieve mission goals through quick, distinct
action with minimal resources, personnel, and oversight.
Though the risks are far above that of common mission types, the
benefits are typically generous.
Equipment is mission-specific; following is basic load-out:
Storm Commando armor, Stormtrooper II carbines, silenced
projectile pistol, Hieb & Stich knife, grenades, and Special
Forces kit. |
